Initial Consultation

Before scheduling your first checkup and cleaning, we have all our new patients come in for an initial consultation. This provides you with the opportunity to meet with our dentist in a stress-free environment and ask any questions you may have about our dentist's experience and the services we provide. It also gives our dentist the chance to get to know you and better understand your unique oral health needs.

First Checkup & Teeth Cleaning

If you're satisfied with your initial consultation, our staff will schedule your first checkup and cleaning. Prior to this appointment, we ask that you complete our new patient paperwork. To allow you ample time to be as thorough as possible, we recommend downloading the form from the link below and completing these forms at home or arriving at least 20 minutes early for your appointment to complete them in our office.

After reviewing your paperwork, paying close attention to your dental and medical history, our dentist will proceed with your oral examination. Our dentist will carefully examine your teeth, gums and other oral tissues, looking for signs of decay, disease and other potential problems. Once the exam is complete, our dentist will perform a teeth cleaning to remove any plaque and tartar buildup, which are the primary culprits of cavities and gum disease.

When your teeth are polished and clean, our dentist will take x-rays of your mouth. We use digital x-rays at Rockingham Dental Group - Exeter, so the process takes just a couple minutes to complete and the images are available immediately for our dentist to evaluate. These detailed images will show any problems, like deep cavities, infections and bone loss, that may not have been fully evident during the exam.

Post-Checkup Discussion

Following your checkup, cleaning and x-rays, our dentist will discuss the results with you. If any issues were uncovered, our dentist may recommend additional treatments to restore your teeth and gums to a healthy condition. Our dentist will outline a treatment plan and our staff will review the procedure costs with you. If no problems were discovered, our dentist recommends patients return to our Exeter, New Hampshire, office every six months for another checkup and cleaning. This ensures any problems are detected as early as possible and more serious issues are prevented.
