What is Invisalign?
Invisalign treatment uses a series of BPA-free, transparent, plastic aligners. They are custom-made to fit your teeth at each stage of treatment and gently shift your teeth into the correct position over time. The aligners are swapped out every two to three weeks, and you'll typically come in every four to six weeks so our dentist can monitor your progress and provide you with the next sets of aligners. Although they're removable, our dentist recommends wearing the aligners at least 22 hours per day to keep up with your treatment timeline.
The removability makes it easy to enjoy all your favorite foods, and there are no pesky wires or brackets to work around when brushing and flossing your teeth. Most patients complete their treatment within 9 to 12 months, but your individual timeline may vary depending on the degree of misalignment and how well you comply with the minimum recommendations. When your treatment is complete, our dentist will likely recommend wearing a retainer (usually at night) to keep your teeth in position and ensure long-lasting results.
The total cost of treatment can vary considerably from patient to patient, as it depends on the total number of aligners needed, office visits and more. Unfortunately, many dental insurance plans do not cover Invisalign. To make this treatment more attainable to our patients, Rockingham Dental Group - Exeter offers a variety of different payment options for nearly every budget.
Invisalign is not recommended for everyone. It's ideal for teens and adults with mild to moderate misalignment who want a discreet alternative to braces. Children and adults with more severe misalignment may require traditional orthodontic treatment to address those issues and achieve a straighter smile.
